Every child and young person deserves the skills and opportunities to thrive.

Yet today, 1 in 3 15-year-olds in the EU struggles with reading and mathematics, while teacher shortages affect learning in many schools. (PISA 2025)

To help address these challenges, the European Commission adopted its new Education and Skills Package (available in EN only) on 5 November, building on the Union of Skills and supporting EU Member States in improving education and training.

The Package focuses on four priorities:

  1. Stronger basic skills: improving literacy, math, science, digital and citizenship skills.

  2. Better and safer use of technology: helping schools harness AI and digital tools for learning while promoting digital literacy and online safety.

  3. More attractive teaching careers: improving support, working conditions, and professional development for teachers.

  4. Modernising vocational education and training: making vocational pathways more attractive and responsive to changing skills needs and future jobs.

Together, these initiatives aim to help schools, teachers, and learners meet the challenges of a changing world and ensure that no one is left behind.

Discover the Education and Skills Package and explore its vision for the future of learning in Europe!
