The guide is based on a report presented to President von der Leyen in July. The report brings together expert knowledge and young people’s perspectives through the European Commission's Special Panel on child safety online, with the aim of making the internet a safer place for everyone.
The guide helps children and teenagers understand and recognise some of the common challenges they may face online. It offers practical ideas and recommendations to help them stay safe and feel supported. The guide explores what is appropriate at different ages when it comes to social media and other digital platforms, helping young people feel safer, more empowered, and confident online.
Parents, educators and those, who work with young people can use the guide to support conversations about online safety and help children and teenagers navigate the digital world.
