Organised by Eurostat alongside national statistical institutes, this unique contest challenges secondary school students aged 14-16 and 16-18 to dive into official data sources and build crucial data literacy skills. Participating teams will learn to look past the headlines, critically analyse real-world statistics, and collaborate with their peers on meaningful global topics.

The competition kicks off with a national stage running from September 2026 to April 2027, where assignments are tailored locally to fit national curriculums. Teams that top the scoreboard at home will move on to the prestigious European stage. There, the challenge reaches a creative peak as students produce a short, impactful video and a ‘making-of' document to solve a specific statistical question. The official European topic will be revealed in mid-December 2026, giving students plenty of time to brainstorm their creative ideas.

Beyond an unforgettable classroom experience, incredible prizes await the top young minds. One winning team from each age category will be celebrated, with every student and their teacher/tutor receiving a €400 gift card, a personalised trophy, a diploma, and exclusive Eurostat promotional material. Best of all, the top teams will win an invitation to travel to Luxembourg and attend the official award ceremony in June 2027. Registration deadlines vary by country so check your local national statistics website today to sign up your teams!
