Slovenia leads the EU

© European Union

Every six months, a different EU Member State leads the EU. This means that it heads the Council of the European Union, organises the meetings of the leaders of the Member States, and indicates the areas in which it would like the EU to progress. Slovenia’s turn started on 1 July.

Facilitating the EU’s recovery and reinforcing its resilience, strengthening European values, and increasing security and stability in the European neighbourhood are at the heart of Slovenia’s objectives. Together with the European Parliament, Council and Commission, Slovenia will also have a unique opportunity to lead the Conference on the future of Europe.
