Online safety is a major issue affecting children across the EU. To improve their safety, to empower them online and to develop ideas on how to better protect them, President von der Leyen held the first meeting of the Special Panel on child safety online. This special panel, which will meet on several occasions in the coming months addresses a range of issues and includes initiatives such as the development of an EU Age Verification app. Important feedback from the President’s Youth Advisory Board and the Citizens’ Panels will also be incorporated. By Summer 2026, the panel aims to present a report with recommendations to the President von der Leyen.
