Safe and effective vaccinations are our best chance of returning to our normal lives after the coronavirus pandemic. To help us get there, the European Commission has signed contracts with pharmaceutical companies. These will give EU citizens access to doses of vaccines as soon as they are shown to be safe and effective. But whilst safe and effective vaccines are important, vaccination is crucial. Therefore, the Commission is also preparing the ground by providing guidance to Member States planning their vaccination campaigns. By working together on the EU level, Member States can protect all EU citizens, especially the most vulnerable, no matter where they live.
