A fair future for all generations

How can we make sure that decisions taken today create a fairer future for everyone, young and old?  

The European Commission, together with the European Committee of the Regions, has launched the Pledge on Intergenerational Fairness, inviting local and regional politicians across the EU and candidate countries to put the well-being of current and future generations at the heart of their policies.  

The Pledge sets out 16 commitments covering sustainable development, accessible housing and public services, age-inclusive employment and youth participation. These actions can help address the needs of different generations and build stronger, more inclusive communities.  

What can you do? Find out more about the Pledge and how local politicians can help shape a fairer future. You can also raise the topic with your local representatives and encourage them to consider the needs of all generations when making decisions.
