Did you know, women account for 48% of PhD graduates across the EU? However, this gender balance is lost in the business and economic sector, where women represent only 22% of researchers in the field. Additionally, only 34% of EU researchers are women and only 9% of inventors are women. Through the ‘She Figures’ report (only available in English), the European Commission is looking into the progress made towards gender equality in Research and Innovation, and at how to close the remaining gender gap in the field.
Changing mindsets can start in the classroom - start a conversation with your students about the situation in your country, using the graphs and data from the “She Figures” report or have a broader discussion about the sciences and careers in science thanks to the Science is wonderful activities available from the EU Learning Corner!
