A school calendar for online safety and more

September marks the beginning of the academic year, a time when a calendar becomes an essential tool for pupils to organise their schedule, set goals, and track progress.

The European Commission has launched the School Year Calendar for 2025–2026, which goes beyond marking dates. It’s designed to spark classroom conversations about online safety. In a world where young people are constantly connected, how can we help them navigate the digital world with confidence and care?

Each month the calendar explores a theme that promotes safer online behaviour. From cybersecurity, digital rights and digital literacy, this resource highlights the skills students need to thrive online. What does it mean to be safe, smart, and respectful on the internet? The calendar helps answer these questions.

It also includes key global and EU observance days, offering timely opportunities to raise awareness of important issues in the classroom.

And because personal growth matters too, there is also space for students to reflect, plan, and set goals for their academic year.

Available in all official EU languages, this is more than just a calendar. It’s a year-long guide to building digital confidence, one month at a time month at a time.
