The recovery of Europe’s large carnivore species – such as the wolf, bear or lynx – can be viewed as a success. But their return after years of eradication has also resulted in a resurgence of conflicts, particularly in areas that are shared with these species and where predation on livestock may occur.
The members of the European Large Carnivore Platform developed a fun and interactive game to let you step into the shoes of a shepherd, hunter, nature conservationist or local politician and to find solutions together for long-term sustainable coexistence with the wolf in their area.
While playing the role play game, students will be able to learn about understanding other people’s interests, positions and what influenced those viewpoints; work on personal development and negotiation skills as the group needs to reach a compromise; or learn more about the wolf and its biology.
Next to learning more about the wolf’s biology, special emphasis is placed on promoting dialogue and respect for different stakeholders’ perspectives by helping young people understand the underlying social, economic and cultural factors around coexistence between humans and large carnivore species.
This game is available in the following languages: Croatian, Czech, Dutch, English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Romanian, Portuguese and Spanish.
Other languages will follow shortly. Stay tuned!
