Antimicrobial resistance: Beat the Bug – a mission against superbugs

Designed for young people, parents, and educators alike, these resources include teaching modules, fact sheets, interactive lessons, and classroom-ready activities to explain why addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) matters.

These tools help contextualise the biology behind AMR, explore real-world drivers (such as misuse of antibiotics in humans and livestock), and empower learners to adopt practices that curb resistance — finishing full courses, avoiding self-medication, and maintaining hygiene.

Ideal for classrooms or self-driven learning, the resources allow flexible integration into health, science, or citizenship curricula. Whether your goal is to spark awareness or deepen comprehension of antimicrobial resistance trends, “Only Up: Beat the Bug” equips learners with knowledge, agency, and the excitement of a game-based journey — and ultimately, a shared mission: to beat resistance before it beats us.

The materials can be combined with the “Only Up: Beat the Bug” game. The combination of both helps transform complex public health science into a captivating experience, helping your students carry home actionable messages: use antibiotics responsibly, spread the knowledge, and protect future generations.

The project is part of the EU’s broader One Health approach, connecting human, animal, and environmental health perspectives.
