The annual EU-wide translation contest invites secondary school students born in 2009 to put their language skills to the test. Participants can translate between any of the 24 official EU languages – choosing from an impressive 552 possible language combinations.
A total of 720 schools across the EU are invited to take part, with each country’s share based on its number of seats in the European Parliament. Since the contest began in 2007, more than 3,000 teenagers every year have taken on the challenge of becoming a translator for a day.
The challenge is to translate a one-page text while showing off your language skills, creativity and flair for finding just the right words.
And there’s more! The 27 winners – one from each EU Member State – will be invited to Brussels for a three-day trip in April 2027, including a special award ceremony to celebrate their success.
