In 2024, 70.8% of women aged 20–64 in the EU were employed. A strong figure and an improvement compared with ten years ago.
Today, the gender employment gap in the EU stands at 10 percentage points. In many Member States, this gap has narrowed over time, showing steady progress.
One more interesting fact: women are more likely to work part-time (27.8%) than men (7.7%), which demonstrates the diverse paths and responsibilities that enrich their working lives and allow for a more balanced approach to career and personal fulfilment.
On International Women’s Day, these figures are more than statistics. They are a reminder of the talent, resilience and impact of women across Europe — and of the shared commitment to building equal opportunities for the future.
