Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming part of everyday life, and young people need the skills to use it wisely.
To help facilitate conversations in and outside of the classroom, the European Commission and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) have launched a new AI Literacy Framework for primary and secondary education.
The Framework helps teachers, school leaders and policymakers understand the knowledge and skills students need to use AI responsibly, safely and ethically. It includes practical classroom ideas and is built around four key areas: engaging with AI, creating with AI, managing AI, and shaping AI.
The initiative supports the EU’s goal of providing high-quality, inclusive and future-ready education, helping learners across Europe develop the confidence and critical thinking skills needed in a world increasingly shaped by AI.
