Juvenes Translatores 2025-2026 winners to be revealed soon!

Announcement of winners!

Hey, language lovers, here’s something for your calendar! The winners of the Juvenes Translatores contest will be announced during a live broadcast on Thursday 12 February, at 11:30 Brussels time

Juvenes Translatores is an annual EU-wide contest for 17-year-old secondary school students – and has been inspiring young linguists since 2007. This year’s theme was ’From languages to landscapes: European journeys to mutual understanding’.

This time 3,004 students from 716 secondary schools participated. Of the 552 language combinations available, they used 155 – including Bulgarian-Greek, Danish-Czech, Irish-Spanish and Croatian-Swedish. Their choices illustrate the complex tapestry of languages in Europe.

Their translations between the EU’s 24 official languages were assessed by European Commission translators. The winners – one from each Member State – will celebrate their multilingual feat at an award ceremony in Brussels in late March. They will also meet fellow language enthusiasts, see European Commission translators at work and explore the city.

All the participants deserve a huge round of applause for their efforts. The next generation of translators will be lucky to have such bright young minds joining the profession, and we encourage them to keep learning languages.

Want to challenge yourself? The contest texts are available online – why not give them a try and see how you get on? And if you know any language-loving students who turn 17 next year, tell them about the Juvenes Translatores adventure at their fingertips!
